Utility Billing

Rule

The Public Works Department provides water, storm drainage and sanitary sewer service. Maintenance of the more than 200 miles of City-owned streets and boulevards also rests with the Public Works Department. Edina's municipally supplied water comes from 17 deep wells located throughout the city. Lateral and trunk sanitary sewer mains are built and maintained by the Public Works Department. Edina's sewage is transported along trunk mains to the Pig's Eye treatment facility in St. Paul, operated by the Metropolitan Council's Waste Control Commission.

Utility charges are based on a flat minimum charge that guarantees the service and provides a minimum amount of water. Consumption beyond that minimum amount of water or excess usage is billed at a rate per 100 cubic feet. Edina water customers are billed quarterly for amounts used and recorded by meters. Quarterly water bills also include charges for sanitary sewer services and storm drainage.

Residents should place bins, provided by the City, at the curb on collection day. A portion of Edina’s recycling costs are subsidized from state taxes passed through Hennepin County.
