Hopscotch: A Morningside Childhood
By Barbara Price
Whether or not you were born in the 1930s like author Barbara Peterson Price,
you’ll enjoy reading her memories of Morningside: stopping for sodas at Hawkins
Confectionary, playing on a dead-end street with neighborhood kids, and overcoming
a fear of Mrs. Vincent, the Morningside librarian. Morningsiders, young and old,
have laughed and remembered as they have paged through this book. $12.
1857 Edina Mill long- & short-sleeved shirts
Long before Edina became a village, a community grew up around the Edina Mill,
established in 1857. Our new T-shirt design features the “red mill,” as pictured
in a painting by former Edina resident Leonard Fellman. Available in both short-
and long-sleeved white T-shirts, with four-color graphic on front and Edina Historical
Society logo on sleeve. $15 (2 for $28) for short-sleeved; $18 (2 for $34) for long-sleeved.
The Como-Harriet Streetcar Line: A Memory Trip through the Twin Cities
By Aaron Isaacs and Bill Graham
Until 1954, citizens of the Twin Cities depended on electrically powered streetcars to take
them to work, school and shopping. The Como-Harriet line connected Edina with downtown
Minneapolis, the State Fair, Hopkins and downtown St. Paul. With vintage photos
and childhood memories, this book recalls the days of the streetcar. $12.75.
